Robert Gessman, MD
Dr. Robert Gessman is double board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He attended medical school at the Commonwealth Medical College (now Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine) with a scholarship as a member of the founding class. During his time in medical school, Dr. Gessman earned his wilderness EMT certification and channeled his passion for adventure and the outdoors by co-founding the school’s Wilderness Medical Society. After receiving his medical degree, he spent a year at the University of Hawaii for a general surgery internship.
He completed his pain management fellowship training at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey where he also graduated from anesthesiology residency. Before joining MDPain, Dr. Gessman moved to Denver in 2018 and served as medical director of an imaging center, co-medical director of a surgery center, and medical executive committee chairman of a private medical practice in Colorado.
Dr. Gessman’s interest in holistic approaches to pain has led him to publish journal articles and a textbook chapter on natural and herbal treatments for pain. He has a passion for neuromodulation and spinal cord stimulation. Dr. Gessman takes great pride in providing the best care and communication for his patients.
In his free time, he enjoys adventure traveling, hiking, camping, scuba diving, snowboarding, paddle boarding and surfing.
